"Police warn speeding motorists: “Don’t be left with blood on your hands”
Monday, 19 Jul 2010 01:34pm These lunatics share the road with us!

Senior police have expressed serious concern that motorists are continuing to play Russian roulette with their lives by speeding.

Police detected a spate of serious speeding offences over the weekend, prompting Traffic Services Commander, Acting Assistant Commissioner Mick Willing, to again warn motorists to slow down.

“My message to motorists is clear: speeding kills,” Acting Assistant Commissioner Willing said.

“Motorists who speed are not only putting themselves at risk but also their passengers and other innocent road users.

“If you don’t want to end up with blood on your hands, take your foot off the accelerator and slow down,” he said.

So far in 2010, 242 people have been killed on New South Wales roads – up two on the same period last year.

Police have detected several serious speeding offences in the past 72 hours, including:
§ A 23-year-old man was issued a licence suspension notice and fined after being caught driving a black 2005-model Holden Commodore at 129km/h in an 80km/h zone on the M2 at Eastwood, in Sydney’s north-west, about 5.20pm on Saturday (17 July);
§ A 31-year-old man’s licence was suspended and he was fined after his 2006-model Suzuki GSX-R motorcycle was observed travelling at 130km/h in an 80km/h on the Warringah Freeway, North Sydney, at 10.45am on Saturday;
§ A 25-year-old man’s ‘P2’ licence was suspended and he was issued an infringement notice after his green 2000-model Mitsubishi Lancer was clocked travelling at 167km/h on the F3 at Kangy Angy, on the state’s Central Coast, just before 1pm on Saturday. ‘P2’ licence-holders are restricted to a maximum speed limit of 100km/h;
§ A 55-year-old man was issued a licence suspension notice and infringement notice after his grey 2008-model Toyota Kluger was detected travelling more than 30km/h above the legal speed limit on the M4, Eastern Creek, in Sydney’s west, at 3.55pm on Friday; and
§ A 41-year-old man’s white 2008-model Holden HSV wagon was clocked travelling at 186km/h in a 110km/h zone on the Federal Highway at Collector, in the state’s south, about 10.15am on Friday (16 July). The man - who had his two young children in the car at the time - had his licence suspended and was issued an infringement notice.
